Virtual Museum Using Google Slides Presentation

Image
Last week, my colleague, Javier Hernandez, presented a PD on virtual museums using Apple's Keynote. I thought this would be a great idea for our 5th graders who are currently studying the different cultures of the world. But instead of using Keynote, I thought it would be easier for the students and teachers to use Google Slides. Using office suite applications on your computer can be troublesome during the submission process (multiple emails, multiple versions, etc).  The following is the Virtual Museum template I created using Google Slides. The "Main Lobby" is where you can access the different rooms. For the 5th grade project, each room would be designated for a specific component of a world culture.  The curator's office is where students can provide an image and a short description of themselves.  In the "Room" slides, students can insert images of their museum piece and rename the text appropriately.  If you are planning to create ...

Digital Citizenship Integration Model - Building a Culture of Care

Image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHy4SqmxgsM I want to share my "Digital Citizenship Integration Model." This consists of shared attitudes, beliefs, and practices for responsible technology use championed by every stakeholder in the school. Here is how my two-part ...

Chrome Apps in the Classroom

I have decided to include Google Chrome apps and extensions into my Web Browsing unit. I think students should know that web browsers allow users to install extensions that benefit their browsing experience, as well as provide educational and productivity apps. Here is a list of apps I have already installed into my browser and will use in my class: 1. Little Alchemy : This entertaining website allows students to learn about how combing different elements creates new substances. 2. Chrome Web Lab:  This website teaches students about 5 important things that people can use the web for: How the web enables people to collaborate How the web can give you the experience of being somewhere else How the web connects to physical objects How data travels across the web How easy information is accessible 3. Google I/O: Input and Output : Students can use geometry to create a machine that will transport a ball to its rightful place.  4. Builder with Chrome (LEGO) : Students can see a glimpse of t...
