1. Open your  Capture  app. Rotate your iOS device to record video, or tap on the ALL VIDEOS icon at the bottom of the screen to choose a video you already took. Then choose the video you would like to upload from the video list on the right.    2. You can add music at the top of the screen. You can also edit the video by adding a new clip or adding an existing clip.     3. Title your video, change your privacy settings, choose a social media site to share your video, and then tap on UPLOAD at the top right corner.   

How to use iPads in the classroom from Lebarone

StoryToys Entertainment Limited  has released a series of 3D interactive pop-up books based on classic fairytales. As you can see in the image below, these book apps provide gorgeous design and illustrations, as well as interactive and engaging activities that  bring the stories to life.  Most importantly, students can practice their reading skills in "Read it Myself" mode.   Here are the StoryToys book apps that are currently free (as of 4/24/13): Rapunzel    Sleeping Beauty Snow White   Read Riding Hood  Hansel & Gretel Little Mermaid Puss in Boots

eBooks are changing the way students read stories. These digital stories contain hands-on learning features and interactive content that increase student engagement. Here are two great examples of how eBooks can increase engagement.   iPoe: Interactive and Illustrated Edgar Allan Poe Collection  (Free) The iPoe app brings Edgar Allan Poe's spine-tingling poems to life through its images, music, and animations. The app contains four of his poems (The Oval Portrait, The Tell-Tale Heart, Annabel Lee, & The Masque of the Red Death) with haunting illustrations by David Garcia Forbes and eerie music by Teo Grimalt.  Van Gogh and the Sunflowers  ($3.99) This interactive story is based on real events of Vincent Van Gogh and a boy named Camille. The beautiful illustrations by Laurence Anholt are similar to the painting style of Van Gogh. A key strategy in supporting ELLs in the classroom is the utilization of visuals. These visuals provide ELLs with pictures and text that can  help develop their vocabulary . According to a  blog post by Edutopia , utilizing visuals connects with ELA Standards (Common Core Standards): Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including  visually , quantitatively, and orally. Use precise language and domain-specific vocabulary to inform about or explain the topic. WordFoto is a great iPad app ($1.99) that lets you turn your photos and words into visuals for your ELLs. Here is how it works: 1. Take a picture or choose a photo from your photo library.  2. Type in the word(s) of your object. 3. Crop, adjust the font style, and fine-tune your photo with the toolbar. You can save your photo to the Photo Library, and then share it on Facebook or email it to your student.
