Virtual museums allow online visitors to explore and interact with digital exhibits that contain information about a collection of artifacts and other historical objects. A simple and effective way to create a virtual museum is to use Google Slides. The template I created consists of a title slide or museum lobby that contains links to the different rooms of the museum. 

The fabulous 5th grade teachers, Erin Curtiss and Erin Hutchins, designed a science project-based learning (PBL) unit based on the beloved TV show, Star Trek.  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYy8o4nXZEY] Here is the driving question of the PBL unit: How can you, as Starfleet Academy Cadets, arrange the items on the ship’s manifest for teleportation using the physical and chemical properties of matter, and knowledge of compounds and changes in matter? The students will have to organize items into specific shipments based on physical or chemical properties. Last week, my colleague, Javier Hernandez, presented a PD on virtual museums using Apple's Keynote. I thought this would be a great idea for our 5th graders who are currently studying the different cultures of the world. But instead of using Keynote, I thought it would be easier for the students and teachers to use Google Slides. Using office suite applications on your computer can be troublesome during the submission process (multiple emails, multiple versions, etc).  The following is the Virtual Museum template I created using Google Slides. The "Main Lobby" is where you can access the different rooms. Here I am teaching a lesson with Google Slides. I like to walk around when I explain a concept, especially moving from the computer to the white board to list directions or illustrate an idea. But what annoys me is when I need to go all the way back to my computer just to go to the next slide! I have found a solution to this problem: Presentation Remote & de Mobo .
