This Electric Circuit museum project is part of a 4th grade science unit based on the Energy standards of the Next Generation Science Standards 4-PS3-2 and 4-PS3-4. Driving Question: Could you, as the curator of a museum, create a 3D digital exhibit about electric circuits for students to visit online?

This video provides a tour of the EdTech Training Center. This training server is a safe and instructional environment where teachers, student-support specialists, and administrators can practice playing Minecraft. Members who join the server can train in exploration, gathering of resources, crafting, and the construction of structures. Players also learn how access server commands as server operators so that they can manage and control their own servers. How It Started Mrs. Y asked me if we could incorporate Minecraft PE into her plate tectonics & volcano unit. I thought it would be great for students to create a diagram of a volcano and a plate tectonic boundary. So I decided to create the diagram over the weekend.  Steps in Creating the Minecraft Diagram  1. Find a seed that would be appropriate for the project  I googled "extreme hills seeds" for a world that would provide numerous mountains I can use for my volcano. I ended up finding seed# 975281896.   2.  Find a volcano and plate tectonic boundary diagrams   3.  I created my volcano diagram using a hill I found that depicts the vent, pipe, magma, and magma chamber.  4. I created the convergent boundary diagram that illustrates a plate submerging and melting into the asthenosphere.  5. 'Splash' texts in Minecraft are randomly chosen yellow texts that reference pop culture. For example, the picture above shows the "Google anlyticsed" splash text, which is a (misspelled) reference to the Google Analytics service. If you are curious about what your Splash text means, check out this  Gamepedia site .

As teachers, it is important to provide struggling students with interest-based learning activities that engage their curiosity and take advantage of their intrinsic motivation. Teachers have to find out their students' interests and utilize the information to facilitate learning for higher achievement.  For those students who are interested (or obsessed!) with Minecraft, you can use the  game to teach almost any topic . Teacher Appreciation Day in Korea

  During Minecraft club, I observe my students cultivating their communities and developing their civic skills in the game ( Click here to see the learning objectives of the club. ). Last week, I noticed something that testifies that I am a newb to Minecraft; I was the only player with the  default skin (Steve) . In Minecraft, a skin is the textural surface area of a player. All my students were running around with custom skins that made them distinct. So over the weekend, I used  Minecraft Skin Studio  to create my character's skin.  The app provides you with a menu. Tap on 'Create a Skin.' You have three options when creating your skin. Mike Rugnetta's  video  inspired me to think about how Minecraft can be used to teach economics. If you have played Minecraft (adventure mode) before, you would know that the 3D procedurally generated world contains limited resources for you to use to survive. This means that your tools, food and natural resources can be used up.
