5 more essential Chrome extensions for students

I’m back with some more essential Chrome extensions for students! I found these extensions from techGeec’s video, however some of the extensions were not be applicable for school settings. So I have listed the extensions that are!


Stay Focused: Allows students to stay on task by blocking specific websites for a certain period of time (like a timer). 




WOT (Web of Trust): Tells you what sites are safe to go to!



Session Manager: Save and close your open tabs to open later (Students can save their school-related tabs as “School Session.” So when they go to school, they can simply click on their “School Session” and immediately their school-related tabs will open.)



Clickable Links: Non-linked listed URLs become links



Chromium Wheel Smooth Scroll: Often when you scroll down on a web page, it jumps from section to section. This extension allows your scrolling experience to be smooth.

Virtual Museum Using Google Slides Presentation

Last week, my colleague, Javier Hernandez, presented a PD on virtual museums using Apple's Keynote. I thought this would be a great idea for our 5th graders who are currently studying the different cultures of the world. But instead of using Keynote, I thought it would be easier for the students and teachers to use Google Slides. Using office suite applications on your computer can be troublesome during the submission process (multiple emails, multiple versions, etc).  The following is the Virtual Museum template I created using Google Slides. Personal YouTube Video Collection with Google Drive!

I finished the Even More Google Geekiness: ISTE 2012 session with  Chris Fitzgerald Walsh 30 minutes. He mentioned how videos can be uploaded into and played with Google Drive. I just tried it and it is amazing! He was right, you have a personal and private YouTube channel for yourself. You can even share the video to others! Click here to see how I did it.
